Kinsey, Alfred C. (1894-1956), Wardell B. Pomeroy, and Clyde E. Martin. The famous Kinsey Reports revolutionized the world’s view of sexuality. The original works were based upon detailed surveys of 18,500 people in the northeastern U.S., conducted between 1938 and 1953 by Indiana University. Kinsey became the first Director (1947-1956) of the Institute for Sex Research, and he corrected many erroneous theories, especially those relating to child sexuality, female sexuality, and homosexuality.

1948 Sexual Behavior in the Human Male. Philadelphia: W.B. Saunders Company. Among the many revelations in this study was the observation that some 38% of all men have had homoerotic experiences, and that some 13% of the male population is primarily homosexual. The work became central to sexual revolution of the 1960s and 1970s.
