Wiese, daughter of Michael Wiese and Maria Pobanz, on 6 October 1875 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Saginaw, MI; by Conrad Volz, Lutheran minister.14,15,16,1 Albert August Wruck was employed by carpenter between 1877 and 1878 at J. H. Pearson & Son, Saginaw, MI.17 He was living between 1881 and 1882 on the "ws 14th 1n of Cherry", Saginaw, MI.18 He was a carriage maker in 1884.19 He was employed as a millwright in 1887 at Mitts & Merrill, Saginaw, MI.20 He was a machinist in 1888.21 He lived between 1889 and 1900 at 251 So. 14th St., Saginaw, MI.22,23 In 1891 Albert August Wruck helped build Albert August Wruck Sacred Heart parish was formed by German Americans who had come from St. Mary Cathedral to form their own parish. In 1992 Sacred Heart merged with four other churches to form SS. Simon & Jude. Sacred Heart Church was demolished during the summer of 1997.24 He was present at the baptism of Olga Maria Wruck sometime after 23 January 1896 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Saginaw, MI.25 Albert August Wruck witnessed the marriage of Reinhold Wruck and Martha Hasenleder on 1 February 1896 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Saginaw, MI; by Joseph Reis, pastor.26,27,28,29,30 In 1900, Albert August Wruck was employed at Mitts & Merrill, Saginaw, MI, as a pattern maker, a trade he had learned in his native West Prussia.23,31 Grandson, Tony Wruck, writes, "One of the anecdotes my father (Vin Wruck) was fond of was that Albert Wruck was a Catholic but was married to a Lutheran woman, Augusta Weiss, and that half the kids were Catholic & lived in the front of the house & half the kids were Lutheran & lived with their mother in the back of the house. Thus, they grew up not speaking & their offspring only knew of the 'other' side of the family thru hearsay. I haven't the vaguest notion if this tale is true or not." At the time, it was very unusual for a Catholic to marry a Lutheran. Augusta Wiese continued to attend the Lutheran Church. Some of their children, perhaps all, were baptised in the Catholic church. Some of their children eventually married in the Lutheran Church.32 He was a pattern maker between 1900 and 1910 at Saginaw, Saginaw Co., MI.6,5 He and Auguste M. Wiese appeared on the census of 7 June 1900 at 251 So. 14th St., Saginaw, MI, along with Anthony Edward Wruck I, Alois Joseph Peter Wruck, Otto Albert Wruck, Oscar Robert Wruck, Isabelle Martha Wruck and Clara Paulina Wruck.5 Albert August Wruck and Auguste M. Wiese appeared on the census of 27 April 1910 at 257 14th St., Saginaw, MI, along with Anthony Edward Wruck I, Oscar Robert Wruck, Isabelle Martha Wruck and Clara Paulina Wruck.33 Albert August Wruck was present at the baptism of Mary Elizabeth Wruck on 8 March 1914 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Saginaw, MI; sponsors: Albert Wruck & Ida Korth.25,34 Albert August Wruck retired in 1930 from at Mitts & Merrill, Saginaw, MI; after 49 years of employment.1,31 He died on 31 January 1948 at his home, 349 So. 14th St., Saginaw, MI, at age 94.35,36,1 Funeral services were held at Deisler Funeral Home and Mt. James R. Flanagan was born on 15 May 1851 at Roscrea, Co. Flanagan was a policeman between 1871 and 1876 at Dublin, Ireland.1 He immigrated circa 1877 to Canada.8 He was living between 1877 and 1880 at Canada.1 He was a Roman Catholic.9 He was a mechanic in 1879 at Listowel, Perth Co., Ontario, Canada.9 He married Mary Elizabeth Donnelly, daughter of Patrick Donnelly and Mary, on 14 August 1879 at Listowel, Perth Co., Div. of Stratford, Ontario, Canada; witnesses: Francis Donnelly and Mary A. In July of 1880, the Saginaw Courier published the following story which may or may not refer to James and Mary Flanagan: "Yesterday Mr. and Mrs. Flannagan, of Carrollton, to use a high-toned phrase, was a little 'exhilarated.' They keep a saloon in that little burg, and in order to pay for some beer which had just arrived, they had a dispute over who should give the money, and a skirmish ensued for the pocket-book, containing about $150, when both parties wallowed on the floor together for the possession, much to the amusement of the bystanders. Mrs. F. got possession of two $10 bills out of the pile, which she immediately tore in two and threw away. Who came off victor is not ascertained."11 James R. Jean Ann Gulliver recalled her father, Fred Schneider, telling a story about James Flanagan. "One day James found himself locked out of one of his daughters' houses. My father never said who the daughter or son-in-law was but the problem was he was locked out. He went home and got his axe and chopped the door down. The son-in-law took James to court on this incident. The judge said, 'How do you plead?' James said, 'Well, yer honor, how do you know that the axe didn't slip out of me hand?' Wulff Division 304, Saginaw, MI. In 1965, when the union celebrated it's 100th anniversary, his 47 years of service gave him the most working seniority in the union brotherhood.
