Alexander Taylor Strange and Elizabeth Melvina Copeland lived between 1872 and 1906 at farm near Walshville, IL; in the early years of their marriage.⁵ Alexander Taylor Strange married Elizabeth Melvina Copeland, daughter of Samuel H. Copeland and Nancy Hueston Grey, on 22 August 1872 at old American House, corner of Main and Wood streets, Hillsboro, IL.⁶ Alexander Taylor Strange was farmer in 1880 at Grisham Township, Montgomery Co, IL.⁷ He and Elizabeth Melvina Copeland appeared on the census of 4 June 1880 at Grisham Township, Montgomery Co, IL, along with Alexander Taylor Strange.⁷ He participated in the organization of the Montgomery Fire Mutual Insurance Co. and the Pana-Hillsboro Mutual Insurance Co.⁵ He was an insurance agent at Hillsboro, Montgomery Co., IL.⁸ He and Elizabeth Melvina Copeland appeared on the census of 10 January 1920 at 615 Tremont St., Hillsboro, IL, along with Alexander Taylor Strange.⁹ He and Elizabeth Melvina Copeland were celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. In A.T.'s own account of their married life, he says, "they have endured and enjoyed the usual amount of trials, successes and felicities, and can truly and appreciatively say that they have had more sunshine than shade, more friends than enemies, more joy than sorrow, more success than failure, and received more good from the people of the world than they are able to return." on 22 August 1922 at their cottage at the Litchfield-Hillsboro Chautauqua, Montgomery Co., IL.⁶ Alexander Taylor Strange employed Fern Marie Mayer in August 1925 at Farm Mutual Insurance Office, Hillsboro, IL, as a secretary to A. T. Strange.¹⁰ Alexander Taylor Strange and Elizabeth Melvina Copeland appeared on the census of 9 April 1930 along with Alexander Taylor Strange.⁴ He died on 2 February 1932 at Hillsboro, Montgomery Co., IL, at age 81. He was buried on 5 February 1932 at Oak Grove mausoleum, Hillsboro, IL.²
